PROTECTING BIRMINGHAM'S CULINARY SCENE
Food and drink lovers with a taste for adventure can enjoy special lunch or dinner prix-fixe menus ranging from $5 to $50 per person – making it easy and affordable for everyone to enjoy a taste of Birmingham’s diverse dishes. Participation is welcomed from local restaurants, food trucks and bars throughout metro Birmingham.
As Birmingham Restaurant Week is in its 13th year, the need for change has become more prevalent. In the past year alone, the restaurant industry has gone through its hardest of battles that outsiders do not understand. Restaurant owners have had to make decisions that not only affected their own lives, but their families, employees, friends and customers – but, to put it simply, that’s all they could do to protect their legacy. As an outsider, we may not understand the true feeling, expression and sadness that comes from feeding one last table, closing the doors of a livelihood and losing touch of a dream – but we are trying. But most importantly, we are trying to use our platform and our voice to protect the restaurants that we can, help those in need and inspire the community to go to battle, with a fork and knife in hand, to protect Birmingham’s culinary industry.
